But what is Master Data Management or MDM? MDM is used to manage the business-critical part of your product information. This includes item numbers of products, price information, product lifecycle management or the stock information of a product. Possibility for price calculation
Prices can be calculated based on price rules. Think of customer-specific prices, (recommended) prices for a specific market or promotions / scales.
Product Lifecycle Management
Manage the change management process of products via product life cycle management. Each product goes through its life cycle based on a structured process and controlled by logic in PIM, updates from external systems or manual intervention.
Manage multiple suppliers (or sources) on an item number
Each product is classified based on item number, for example EAN, GTIN, OEM. Based on a unique product ID, multiple suppliers or sources such as a content broker can be brought together and recorded on one and the same product in PIM.
Reference data
Certain product categories cannot do without data that assigns them to another product. For example, a cylinder head that only fits a certain type of engine, or a smartphone case that only fits an iPhone X. Reference data provides managed products with this necessary addition.
